| Wednesday, July 21, 2004 We're Still Here! I know I’ve been remiss as of late. It’s not that there haven’t been several things to write about, it’s just that every time Miss Ruby takes a nap or lets me have a moment away from her, I feel as though I need to spend my time running around like a madman, taking care of all of the small tasks which come up during the course of a day: dishes, eating breakfast, laundry, making the bed… hurry, do it now! My mom gave us a break the other day. She babysat while we went to the movies. It was hard to leave Ruby for a pleasure outing. I often drop her off for an hour or two when I go to work, but this was different; this was for fun. She knew something was up as we were leaving, and started to scream before Ani and I reached the door. We went anyway, and she screamed for over an hour while we enjoyed air-conditioned movie goodness. Thanks mom. Ruby had her second round of shots yesterday, and the nurse couldn’t believe that she was only four months old. She’s 26 ¼ inches long. They have a chart, like the ones for those standardized tests I had to take when I was in school. Ruby is in the 97th percentile for height at her age! Woo Hoo, misdirected parental pride starts here! I want a bumper sticker that says something about my toddler being taller than most honor students. Speaking of pride… My child can do this! Toes in mouth!
The doctor said that’s a sign of intelligence! Now I can have a bumper sticker that says something about my kid's desire to eat her foot. Sadly, I can’t quite reach my little piggies with my teeth, so I must be dumb. Stay limber Ruby. Don’t get stupid like your old man! Stop by and see Nora. The comments are getting fun.
